Designer: Nicola Slaney
Moorcroft Pottery
Geometric petals of turquoise and coral blues twist in seas of colour amongst clouds of white stamens and avocado green leaves. A youthful memory of a coral retreat is brought back from the portholes of the designer’s mind, and mapped out with colourful precision. These are the colours of Kiribati where Nicola Slaney spent tropical days in the South Pacific awaiting inspiration for her millennium design, while young men sang as they climbed the coconut palm trees. Truly beautiful designs take a while to ferment, like the sap from the palm trees used to make the local ‘Todi’, an intoxicating brew.
